<<Sharon, every time I view your website, it makes me want to teach on the high school level.>>
Thanks, Susan!! It's funny to think of how TERRIFIED I was, at first, at the prospect of teaching at the high school level! I'd worked in an elementary school for 7 years and just had no idea how I would deal with kids who would be *taller* than I am and with some who would have very advanced art skills. I really love it, though, and it's incredibly exciting to see the things that they're capable of doing. Of course I also have my "middlers" (grades 6-8) at this school, and during the summer I have the opportunity to teach elementary & middle school kids at the summer arts camp that I've worked at for the last 3 years. :-)
Just out of college I worked in therapeutic rec in first a nursing home and then in a couple of different retirement centers. I greatly enjoyed working with the senior citizens and had to come up with a lot of adaptive techniques to help them compensate for arthritis, poor vision, etc., etc. So I guess I've taught at every level, so far, except for adults my age--and at this point I think I'd be terrified of doing that!! ;-)
I've thought about offering some classes at Michaels, though--just can't find the time to do anything else!
