I teach Mandalas to my fifth graders and I do mention the Tibetian
connection, but I don't dwell on it. At the Trammel Crowe Asian museum in Dallas, they
actually have monks come and do sand mandala. I have photos of that from their
website that I show the kids. I also mention that the mandala is used and
seen in many other culters. I use it mainly as a means to teach radial design.
