Hi Ruth,
    Another good "nightmare" painting is by Henry Fuseli, depicting a woman
on a bed having a horrible nightmare, with some creature sitting on her
tummy and a horse looking on. Can't remember the title.

 Music tie ins?

    Night on Bald Mountain by Moussorgsky, the march to the scaffold
movement from Symphonie Fantastique by Berlioz...will send some more ideas
later.

Language Arts (poems?)

    Tale of Two Cities by Dickens--Madame De Farge knitting as the heads
rolled off the guillotine.
    The Raven, by Edgar Allen Poe
