I also keep all the work until the end of the year. Students make a
portfolio every year for that year's art, and the parents wait excitedly for the
portfolio to arrive. Many send me a note or call me to say they are coming to pick
it up personally ( so they can frame a piece or two). I attach a letter on
the front to the parents each year explaining the goals of each lesson, artists
studied, and the how lessons integrated with classroom studies. Portfolios
have become an event! It's better than the kids taking their art home crumpled
in a backpack, IMO.
