Kindergarteners really handle this? Being my first year teaching elementary,
I have some questions about this idea of kids copying step by step what we
do. How do you all feel about this and what grades do you do it with? It does
seem helpful.
In the beginning of kindergarten, I'm very structured in breaking down the
lesson, step by step. I also follow a routine will them- the same one week
after week. Although they all are doing the same "step", believe me, them don't
all come out the same! In the beginning, I'm going over the basics of line,
color, shape, as well as basic cutting skills. If we are all "taking our line
for a walk", for example, that walk leads them in many different directions on
their papers.
