I teach about 45O students a week, K-5. Contractually, we have to teach for
186 days. Each of my 21 classes has art once a week for 40 minutes, although I
like to get as much additional teaching time in whenever I can. I very often
give "extra art"- I will schedule extra classes for the ones that are behind
because of vacation days from school. If a class is on a trip and misses
art, I try to schedule them for make up during my "free"(LOL) time, also. When
the classes need more than 40 min.for ceramics, I often have the ability to add
20 minutes. After seven years paying my dues in another district with no
sinks, three floors, a cart, and a horrible schedule, I'm in heaven the last six
years in this district!

What about bus, lunch duty, lunch periods, and school day time, everyone? I
have afternoon bus duty twice a week and 30 minute lunch (recess) duty about
twice a month. Teachers' lunchtime is 60 minutes a day. Our day is 8:10- 2:50.
