Re: parent favorite - kindergarten

       I do a project just like Deborah's O'Keefe flowers with my
kindergartners that parents raved about last year. We draw cats together step by step
with pencil on black paper. Then we trace over our lines with Elmers glue. We
let the glue dry, then we use chalk pastels (messy - but great results) to
color outside the cat with patches of warm colors, and the inside of the cats
with cool colors. We called them our cool cats! :) I mounted each one, and
laminated them, so that the pastels wouldn't smudge. (That was much easier for
me than spraying them.) They looked fabulous, even if the cats were not
perfect, the pastels on black paper are gorgeous. :) Breanne K-5, Long Island
