magazine cover design...need help

I want my 8th grade art tech students to design their own magazine cover using Adobe PhotoShop Elements. I'm looking for correct lingo when describing the elements contained on a magazine cover. One year the newspaper came in and taught a unit on newspaper design, with all the jargon. I did not come up with much on the internet when I plugged in designing magazine covers. I found a little research done on sales and marketing based on the covers appeal. That was interesting. I will talk about type and layout considerations, along with how to create unity with your design, but wanted to use the right labels for the parts of a cover. Can anyone help me out here?
