I think those txt files are created when people reply to the list or
forward something. Some e-mail systems turn the e-mail you are
forwarding into an attachment instead of just copying it below your
message.

I just received about four posts from the list, all of them with ".txt"
files attached. For each one of them, my McAfee HAWK Virus Scan popped
up.
Could these "attached files" be coming from the Getty server? Is anyone
else getting them?
