I like to do a large still life. (18 x 24 paper). The students draw the
shapes. Then they collage them with wallpaper book pieces, fabric scraps,
colored construction paper (could add patterns) and all different types of
patterns. Then have them reoutline all the shapes with a black marker. They
always turn out great. Even when they are way out of proportion, they take on
a "cubist still life aura.
