<< Watercolor with high school students.... the basics >>
I begin by having students fold an 18 x 24 sheet of white paper into 16
"swatches." I give them a handout with instructions for filling each
section, using wet on wet, dry over dry, plastic wrap on wet paint, salt
sprinkled into wet paint, masking, graded washes, dry brush, etc. They get a
dab of experience with more than 16 methods of paint application and
manipulation, and get a little more comfortable with the medium.
