Draw a Man Test?

Date: Thu Oct 25 2001 - 18:57:43 PDT

I am reaching way to the back of my brain on this one - I remember when
either psychology or art education a test on maturity and mental age. It was
based on the ability to draw a man with all body parts. The more body parts
included the more mature the child was considered to be. Tonight during
teacher conferences I showed some very immature work to a parent (a head and
either legs or arms dangling from it - nothing more) he is first grade -
and mentioned
the Draw A Man Test - she is also our school counselor so I felt comfortable
this was perhaps a sign of immature development. He is very bright in so many
ways - recently adopted by her and she knows he lacked alot of stimulation
he was quite young. She is going to have him tested for possible problems.
Just wondered if anyone else remembers the Draw A Man test??? Roberta
