Dear not terrible teacher, but one who is learning ( and we all still are in
different ways).

It doesn't matter how many years one has taught ,there is always something to
learn. So don' t be too hard on yourself. It is wonderful that you are
reflecting on that lesson and seeking possible options.
But personally, I think one quarter is a long time for one lesson. As much
as I loved art in high school my adhd- ness would drive me bonkers spending
that amount of time on one lesson- especially in a block schedule! Breaking
it down in to parts, taking a break - do something else and come back to it
is a good idea mentioned from someone.
I know motivating students is always a challenge, but their behavior is a clue
to their interest.
Don't necessarily toss that lesson out, just see how you could revise it.
I've been revising certain lessons year after year. We are all life- long
learners.
