Ghastly gourmet Art and nervous days

Date: Thu Oct 11 2001 - 23:32:30 PDT

I used to do a really cute "Witches Sandwich" with the kids but don;t do
stuff much anymore. The kids drew on really narrow paper a sandwich stacked
as high as possible with layers of meats, cheeses, eyeballs, newts, toads ,\
lizards, snakes, lettuce, tomato, olives, bats, etc. They looked ghastly
gourmet. Then with a hole punch we punched holes in the paper and wove
pink earth worms all through it . Was gross but so much fun. CAn be painted
flat in watercolor and/or layered with construcition paper effects. That is
the best.

Then in a serious note:

<< If you heard his speech, the President is now telling us there are threats
terrorism to happen in the next few days. I'm nervous enough and now more
worried about my own children who are in NYC. I know, it could happen
anywhere, but somehow Grand Central Train Station or The Midtown Tunnel,
among other crowded places in NYC, is not my place of choice, at the moment.
WE live only `1 1/2 hours from Whiteman Airforce Base, Mo. - home of the
bombers and my daughter only lives 1/2 hour away. Our art conference is
going to
be there this weekend at Knob Knoster not too far from the base.>I am a real
nervous norvous.

Kids need the diversion of art and Halloween - even if it is just a few
and fall hangings. Some of our teachers go all out and others due to
beliefs ignore it all. I am somewhere in the middle.

Peace soon. Roberta
