I love this thread because I could really add a lot of my project disasters!
I've had so many in my illustrious career-too numerous to list! There is one
where I handed out the kids mirrors to make self-portraits and the kids froze
on me. They were so focused on "This looks ugly," that they missed the whole
point to my lesson of self-portraits. I had to keep reassuring them that
they were beautiful and were not ugly, etc. etc. etc. Then, last year, there
was the time when the Principal walked in --unannounced-- and I was talking
to the kids about a poster by Kandinsky that I hung up temporary with masking
tape in front of my classroom. I wasn't watching where I was walking while I
was talking to the kids, and I tripped over something on the floor and fell
on my behind, right in the middle of the classroom. KA-BOOM!! Well, I
wasn't about to let this stop me from the kids benefiting from my great
wisdom,,,so I got up and immediately, dusted myself off, walked in the front
of my room to deliver my scintillating lecture and the poster promptly fell
on my head. It just seems when I have these many mishaps, the Principal
always walks through my door--perfect timing!
