Molas are layers of textiles cut and sewn to reveal the fabric beneath. It
is an native american custom (Panama area?) to wear garments sewn in this
fashion. Shapes are usually animals, insects and geometric designs. I used
an "adapted" version of a mola with bright colored yarn as a project with my
6th graders a couple years ago. They loved it too. Lots of information out
there on the net- books and samples too. Its a winner theme! Good Luck!
