need instructions for folded paper snake, or a paper chain

Hi All,
Somewhere in my mass of books I recall seeing instructions for a folded paper
snake.
I seem to remember kind of using a few strips of paper. It was like a paper
chain.
does anyone know what I'm talking about ???
I'm thinking that it had some references to those old German paper stars that
are popular around Christmas. I could be wrong. Does this ring a belll with
any of you creative folks out there ???
