Jen's music and quiet idea is sound....I also learned the hard
way............and after about 3 years teaching 1000 students....grades
K-5.....the QUIET, "inside voice" only, does work.
To add to Jen's idea, I had a lots of ART videos that I could NOT justify
taking the time for kids to SIT and JUST VIEW so I would repeat play the
videos on the elements of art & design and others while they quietly worked.
Heads would always be popping up at different intervals to view the screen.
During the 10 minute focus time after arriving to art, when I gave
instructions, it was to be quiet.
The FIRST 6 WEEKS sets the stage for the year! Right guys out there in
ARTLAND? Also, little by little your organizational skills will adapt to the
environment that you teach in at your different schools. It's amazing how
VERY VERY creative you will become by the end of this first year of teaching.
You don't learn it all at college eeh?
