We use Photoshop 5.0 inour high school computer llab on both Win 95 and Win
98 machines. There's no reason it shouldn't work jsut fine on WinME or 2000.
We love the program. You are basically limited only by your skills and
imagination, but the learning curve is rather steep. Photoshop's layers have
spoiled us when it comes to using other image manipulation programs. We also
use Pagemaker 6.5 for layout.

Photoshop is now out in 6.0 which has some excellent new options for
combining text and images.

As for your decreasing the file size question, my suggestion is not to
explain to the novices why they have to do it just show them how to do it,
give them written directions for future reference, and tell them they ALWAYS
have to reduce the file size using that method. When they are more
comfortable with the process or just feel curious, you can explain the why.
