Believe me...you are not the only person to loose sleep over this!!! My room
is way over booked too with after school groups. One is a parent to whom I
am not allowed to say no. Needless to stay the children are not well
supervised, they have broken things, ruined artwork and "played" with props I
have in the room, even being around my desk. These children are my students
by day and would never dream of doing these things while I was in the room,
yet this parent held me in such disregard that they felt free to do these
things. When some artwork on the computer (yes I begged for and got 4
computers that can no longer be used by anyone but me in my room...they were
going to throw them out!) finally she spoke with the parent...but then it got
worse. So I started lecturing those students who I knew were in the room at
that time, told them I was going to contact their parents and that they would
have to see the principal. I also started blocking off parts of the room
with chairs and big signs...(problem is I am not in the building when they
use the room, it is after school on a day when I am at another school).
Finally the parent got the idea and things have been a little better. I felt
like a real witch and lost tons of sleep over how rude this woman was....It
upsets me that the art room is treated like "public space" when a group wants
to use it...but not when it comes time to clean it! (let's don't get started
on that strand again!!!)

Just wanted you to know you are in good company!! Unfortunately!
