Re: sketchbooks

I have students 2-5 make sketchbooks. I keep them in the art room in a
sketch book box divided by class. It takes up marginal room. The
fifth/fourth graders are using them the most right now. They use them for
thumbnail sketches, Writing, and writing down assignments. The fifth graders
did recently take their sketchbooks home to work on designs for an art show
logo/theme. It worked very well and all the sketchbooks came back.
Amazing! I also use the sketchbooks for free drawing if there is extra time
at the end of the lesson. Free drawing at the end of a lesson usually needs
to relate in someway to the lesson objectives. I also have them use the
sketchbooks to create designs for 3-D objects and they work from the
sketches...just like real artists!!! hehe

Good luck!
