Re: Art Teachers/ Artists

Date: Sat Oct 14 2000 - 19:33:16 PDT

Wasn't Paul Klee a teacher as well as an artist? I'm sure the examples are
many! And isn't this perfectly acceptable at the college level? Are we any
less an artist for reaching them early?!?! Just my thoughts as someone who
has always seen teaching as an amazing opportunity to reach young minds and
share my passions! Didn't make me less of an artist, did it? Okay it does
take up an enormous amount of my time and efforts, but it fuels me as well,
and it keeps me from being isolated. I feel as creative in my teaching
efforts as I do in my art. Sometimes it is more rewarding! You touch people
as an educator, young people that may not see your work in a gallery. It is
not less, it is not for everyone, but for some of us it is an important part
of who we are!
