late bloomers art support ideas

anyone have any ideas to help kids learn to read and
write who are not keeping up with their peers. the
late bloomers.. first grade.....or so. you know those
kiddos who love art but can't focus or are not
interested in academics yet. maybe ADD or ADHD.
thhings like making letters with shaving cream, etc.
