A funny story....and they all think art teachers are LESS than the academic
world!!!!
Our school had a corporate pilot representing Kelloggs come and gave a
demonstration of hot air balloons...it was something about soaring by
reading......Well he began telling the history of the hot air balloon and
said that Ben Franklin was the first man to design and develop the hot air
balloon.....I knew differently...
So after the assembly I walked past this CORPORATE PILOT and told him the
Leonardo DaVinci was the first man to imagine and design the hot air
balloon...he dismissed me by saying that many people have other theories but
the Ben Franklin one is the only one documented.....well...I said come to my
room and I will show you differently....the art teacher knows...so a few
minutes later..with the principal they came in and I showed him an article
that I clopped out of a newspaper about 15 years ago. It showed DaVinci's
design pages and notes. It was sold for 30.8 million at that time....
wow..that art teacher knew what she was talking about...He asked if I could
take it off my wall ...
He even asked for a copy ! He said ..."you teach the little ones about this?"
Yes ART IS IMPORTANT because it is history.
POINTS FOR THE ART TEACHER.
