accountability can be a great thing, but they keep asking more of teachers

It is a 'hot' item...gets people to listen to them. Nice mean little sound
bites with no substance, no real research, and the illusion of quick and easy
results.
Everybody with a brain knows that human beings develop at different rates
in different ways. Everybody with a brain knows that some people are not
academically inclined or gifted..or even wired for it. We are NOT created
the same in these areas, but you wont get a politico to say so..."Its the
fault of the party in power" Its the fault of the teachers" the bombast ...
and they certainly never admit it is a fact of human variety.

A lot like the drug problem, no politico will say that its a basic social
problem that needs time and effort to correct... "throw 'em all in jail"!
they say, and so our country is on Amnesty International's list as having way
too many of its citizens in jail. The social problems behind these things are
monumental and NOT available to short term solutions...but that's boring and
doesn't get a fast result at the polls.
