I, for one, feel crafts are great for the holidays. How can it be wrong?

Crafts are not wrong or right, certainly not "bad". The only thing about art
and craft is that they are not the same thing, especially for young children
who must have art in their creative experience --- not crafts exclusively.
It's important to know the difference between art and craft when teaching
--- that's all ! --- and to be sure to allow for both if possible, not
crafts alone. I think what I'm getting at is that many teachers never do
"art", they only do crafts, thinking that they are art, but without room for
creative expression or experimentation.
