Re: Weaving with toddlers

They are not coordinated enough to accomplish this, it's hard even for first
and some second graders. You'll be busier than a one arm paper hanger, and
end up doing a majority of the work yourself. I start first grade on weaving
three paper strips on a valentine heart. Each side is cut into a rectangle
with a rounded top, one side red , one side pink or white ( or from
wallpaper). Then evenly cut into three strips, 3/4
of the way up from the squared bottom. ( leave the rounded top uncut.) They
look like two jelly fish- so I tell a little story how the first one swims
past the other and slides under it's last "leg". I then demonstrate how to
weave the first strip, by alternating over -under-over....
2nd strip under-over-under....
3rd strip over under-over..... believe me...when you get that explained
you'll have
plenty of "Teacher help me....." ahead of you.
