re: teachers who have students with latex or other allergies

WHOA!!! Please realize "Latex" and "Rubber" are the same!! DO NOT give a child
with "latex" allergies anything other than synthetic gloves. These are not
difficult to come by, and most likely the child may just have some with them, or
their parent does.

Also, realize that "Latex" or "rubber" is in a multitude of other things we forget
to check including...balloons, balls, erasers, bottoms of shoes, bicycle tires, etc.
Anything that feels or smells like rubber usually is rubber.

I am aware of this type of allergy because I have a son with Spina Bifida. Latex
allergy precautions are in effect for ALL children with Spina Bifida. Their
reactions can vary from sniffles or a slight rash to life-threatening. The allergy
reaction can come on with no prior symptoms. Terribly scary.
