Hi Everyone. Last Wednesday I committed to give a short presentation where
I will presenting the (elementary) art curriculum (etc) to the school's PTO
and parents (on Dec 1st). I am, in general a nervous individual, so I am
not particularly looking forward to this, but in other respects I see it as
a wonderful opportunity to share, justify, and gain support for the art
program. In that respect I am very excited. This is also my first year at
this particualr school, so it's a good chance to "get to know" parents, or
at least let them know a bit a about me/art philosophy. However, I do not
specifically have the year's curriculum etched in stone. I am still
learning what the kids know and don't know, things they've done "last year"
and things that will be new to them, already (in many caseas they are
behind the stated curriculum from which I would normally assume knoweldge
in areas). I would like to introduce myself, give them my general
philosophies on art/education, CURRICUALR goals/frameworks (in general),
and, if possible, a quick interactive fun something-or-other. I don't
think I am alotted a lot of time with them, but I thought it would be fun
to play a quick game or puzzle or something (handouts are good too)....I
have a few ideas buit I would love to hear more, and if anyone has done
this before...any advice/ideas?
Please respond soon, it's DEC 1st
thanks in advance!
