Have you tried the marbles in a box lesson? Take a large shoe box or
something comprable and tape a piece of paper in the bottom. Have a few
colors of tempera paint in small bowls each with a marble and a spoon in
them. Have your students pair up into 2's and each pair is responsible
for the manipulation of the box. Have them take a marble from each
color and put it in the box and move it back and forth. After a few
minutes they will have created a piece of anstract artwork ala Pollack.
