In my computer imaging class. I introduce scanning and Photoshop's amazing
filters by having students scan a "bodypart" (usually an ear or hand(s)) and
apply 20 filters and present them in a slide show format (we use
powerpoint). The altered image is saved individually in pict. format with
the applied filter as it's file name. All images are then inserted as
slides into a multi-media presentation. The slide shows are visually
exciting and educational for the whole class!
Another thing-- I use alot of peer coaching in my classes. I train a small
group of 2-4 students on the scanner and the digital camera (We use Sony
mavica with the digital zoom with excellent results!) and the students then
teach the next group, etc. Works well, and takes the heat of the teacher in
lab with 26 students!
