Oh gosh, someone else thinks that the school system is draining and has left
their job. Well, that is good to hear. Maybe if more teachers weren't such
yes sir and yes maam types, the school system would accept the advice of the
people who know best - The teachers. I am on emergency leave right now too.
I couldn't handle the demands, the responsibility, lack of support or
understanding. I don't know if I really want to return to my position,
either. The stress was killing me. Maybe a life of poverty is the price for
my own sanity. After 23 years of teaching I saw my job getting more
difficult and less rewarding. Maybe it's me, but creativity and appreciation
by students and staff is not what it used to be. The expectations were
unmanageable and totlly insensitive to the role of the teacher. Maybe there
is peace in poverty.
