Here are a couple of things I wasn't prepared for:
1. Dealing with children w/ disabilities - physical, emotional, mental, or
otherwise. I never even heard of an IEP before I started teaching. I only
found out that a student had an IEP or whatever disability AFTER something
happened in the classroom with that student. Specialists aren't told about
these things except by accident.
2. Dealing with discipline.
There are other things that I can't think of at the moment....
