Dear Wizzle -- WOW! I just read that you became a National Board Certified
I understand that the process of becoming certified is a tremendous amount of
work. One of my very best friends, who I also teach with, is an original
member of the National Board. She has kept me up to date on the progress of
the board and the wonderful teachers who attempt certification. May I ask
what state you are in? And, I assume you are a secondary level art teacher
-- as elementary art teachers just become eligible to qualify -- ? Just this
past week, I learned that a teacher in my state became the very first NBCT
here in SD!!! We are always behind, but we are extremely proud of her. Our
state is not the greatest at supporting teachers, so there has been no
encouragement or incentive from the government to attempt certification, as
there is in other states. I hope your collegues, friends and family are all
VERY PROUD of your work! Best wishes! Sincerely, Lisa, elementary art
teacher in SD
