I once had a class write a children's book on the preservation of
animals. Ideally it was supposed to be an allegory on friendship and helping
those in need. Students began the project by doing reseacrch on endangered
or extinct animals. This was to familirize the students with the animal
world. Also we did that as a trial run for groups. From the art history
stand point, I included lessons on the history of book making and
typography. As closure I wanted students to read their books to younger
children, but we did not have time. Just a thought.
