Ginny and all,
This sounds like you are doing a great job! Censorship is a great issue for
kids to tackle. I want to share a tip with you. You might know this already.
This tip can help your kids to determine the quality and validity of
information found on the web.
As you know, anyone can make a web page. Web pages can be complete
fabrications of fact. Students need to learn the difference between
fact/fantasy, Solid Information/information in question. You can teach them
to get more info to make a decision about a web site by:
Go to Alta Vista search engine.
Type in the search box the URL of the site in question. The search engine
will tell you ALL the sites linked to this site. For example, if you went to
a site that said the Holocaust never happened, you could go to Alta Vista,
type the URL and Shazam!! It would show you that that site might be linked to
white separatists or Neo-nazis. You get the idea?
Keep up the good work!
