Retablos and Reading

Hola New Mexico,
As one who visits your part of the world at least once each year,
I would like you to send me information on Retablos and Santos
when you get it together. Also, our school district is pushing reading,
as they should. I see a book advertised in New Mexico magazine,
"Miguel and the Santero" by Sandra E Guzzo. Are you familiar with it ?
Would you recommend it, or other books ? I teach Middle School, but
we are looking for books with good content but lower reading levels.
The high interest/low level idea is to get our poorer readers reading
more, since most of the age appropriate material is too difficult and
therefore frustrates them, so they quit all together.
Thanks, Woody in KC
