At our HS, there are 5 basic offerings for advanced students. Basic courses
include drawing, sculpture, pottery and computer graphics. All of these
include art history & are focused on principles & elements. The more
advanced classes include:
PAINTING - prerq: drawing. This class covers watercolor & oil painting
ADV. ART - prerq: drawing or sculpture & B avg in art classes. Students
work in a variety of media to solve visual problems.
COMP. GRAPH. II - prerq: comp. graphics I. Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop.
ADV. POTTERY - prerq: pottery w/ a min.of B & formal application. Students
must apply for class, which is focused on individual exploration & technical
INDEP. STUDY - prereq: min. of 2 art classes, incl. 1 adv. class, B avg in
art. Individual exploration & portfolio development.
Classes vary, but there is a limit of 20 in adv. 3D classes, 25 in adv. 2D.
We would like to move toward a 2D or 3D design designation for classes, but
this is where we are now. Hope this helps! - Dennis
