Ok...If I dare, I am going to ask another question about color. I feel
like this is enough to drive you batty, but I love teaching color and
want to do it "the right way."

How many of you use cyan and magenta as primaries instead of blue and
red?

I was taught and always used red and blue but in my new school we teach
magenta, cyan and yellow. It is new to me, but not to the most of the
other teachers in my dept. I feel behind the times.

However the junior high teaches red, yellow, blue primaries but are
beginning to include the other way as well. I find the inconsistancy to
be a problem. Also, there does not appear to be a consitant language we
use for colors other than the primaries, and I think this is a problem.
For example, one teacher teaches that there are 5 secondary colors. Is
this true? If you are interested, here is the break down she uses...I
think.

Primary: Magenta, Cyan, Yellow
Secondary: Red, Blue, Orange, Green, Purple
Tertiary/Intermediate: blue-violet, and I dont know how many others in
this category.

Also, is there a difference between purple and violet?
Which word do you use, Tertiary or Intermediate?

Thanks for your infinite patience. Have a great night.
LM
