I just went to a lecture last night by a woman named Alexandra York,
president of American Renaissance for the Twenty-First Century. She has
written a number of books advocating the arts education as part of the core
curriculum. She was quite interesting and I would like to find out more
about her. I have ordered her new book which will be published soon, but was
wondering if anyone out there on the Getty list has heard of her. One of her
statements last night was, "The purpose of art is not to make artists of our
young people; it is to help them become complete human beings." She also
stated that arts education is one of the most important subjects in the
curriculum. Any info out there? DeDe
