This is in response to the UA art and ecology lesson developed by Andi
Yablonski, Genie Holt and Wendy Otto. -from Emily Thorne (OSU)
I enjoyed reading about your issue. You have found some excellent
examples of environmental and site specific art. I thought that the
activities which you chose were appropriate and would be fun for high
school students. I especially liked the idea of creating a sculpture on
a site from materials on that site, but that project might take an
entire year with the amount of research that the students would have to
do. there also may be legal hoops to jump through about using certian
sites. I thought that the disscussion questions you wrote were the
strongest part of your project. One other area you may want to explore
is the differences between temporary and permanent art and the effect of
it on the viewer because it is temporary or permanent.
