This was a great topic. I just was reminded of another author illustrator. The night sky illustrations are very poignant, yet full of hope. The story is "Follow the Drinking Gourd" by Jeannette Winters. It is the story that relates the dreams of slaves as they believe in and sometimes actually follow the drinking gourd (Big/Little Dipper) to freedom. The pictures and story are very effective.

reveals the organization of the entire tapestry."
