Hi ...I'm beginning a long-term interdisciplinary fine arts unit with my fifth
graders. One of the projects they will be working on is to create large
illustrations to the music that they will be singing. I'm planning on using
4'x6' panels of homasote - 2 highed together to form a large Storybook. (I
will also be framing the edges with pine boards.) I'm planning on using
three of these illustrated storybooks for the background scenery. I've never
used this material before. Do I need to prime it with gesso or some other
medium before I let the kids sketch/paint? I am planning on them painting
with acrylics. Your imput would be appreciated. Carol
