regarding the kalaidescope question: the beauty we enjoy from looking
through a kalaidescope is one of the few examples I know in which what we
find beautiful is not so much, or just, the color patterns, but the
movement as they change; in this way it is like the pleasure we receive
from natural beauty - clouds moving and shape-changing in wind; the motio
in constancy of large water; the fascination of flames. Other examples?
