A friend of mine had the students make the symbolic figures from Navajo
Sandpaintings from Pop Cans. They then painted them and added feathers
and such and put a pinback on it. Cool little pins. I still have a few
of her demos. She did this with older students... 6th grade was the
youngest, and yes, they can be sharp.
