California art experiences

I would appreciate some help from West Coast art instructors...I teach art
in a small,
rural high school in central Illinois and have a wonderful new principal (a
former
band director/music instructor...supports the arts in a big way) and he is
planning a
Christmas trip to California. He plans to be in Los Angeles, San Diego and
San Francisco
and wants to see the best art available...I'd like to be able to pass on
some first hand
information. If your principal was going where would you send him (and his
family).
