Thanks for sharing your students' responses. I found the "tux" question
especially interesting. Did you then ask if our reaction to color always
depends upon the context---i.e. what objects are involved, the occasion,
etc? A good strategy (you may already be using it) is to ask students
whether general principles can be articulated based on what they discover
about their responses. Sometimes, of course, NO general principles are
forthcoming---there will always be counter-examples. But it's a good
exercise anyway. I told the ASA session where Ron and I and others
discussed The Philosophers' Forum about your lesson; they were very
enthusiastic about it. Good work! Marcia
