Thanks for all your support of my transition into a K-8 school,
especially with the middle schoolers. Today a new concern emerged. I had
a student who refused to work in art today (an 8th grader). The project
was motivating for the others and I donšt think that comprehension was a
factor. Even though he was not disruptive, this still disturbs me. Gosh,
with my younger students, just leaving them observe for a few minutes was
usually enough for them to decide to work anyway.
What causes this defiance/attitude and how should it be addressed?
Indeed, middle school is a whole new ball game.
