I certainly think that what we are exposed to and learned deeply about we
broaden our scope of possible solutions and consider other view points. Take
any group of student at the beginning of the semester and lay out 10-15 varied
prints. Have them pick what they love, what they think is the best and what
they think is ugly or awful. Teach your lessons around the ones that win the
ugly contest and then give the same prints and selection at the end of the
year or semester. Guest which ones the students prefer..... the ones they
hated. Why because they know them are familiar and understand them on a deeper
level. Ahhh they have meaning to them. That is what we want to do, broaden
their senses and tools for selection and understanding so they may really
begin to open their eyes, mind and heart.
