Are you working in sculpture or on the wheel? Several years ago we offered
an after-school art program for at-risk youth in our local school district.
We had one student in particular who had many problems and would "act out"
frequently. One day, at the end of his, and the teacher's, ropes, he ended
up sitting at one of the wheels. It changed everything! Dramatically. He
was extremely talented but couldn't focus to bring that talent out when
working in drawing, painting or sculpture. Something about the wheel,
though, worked. His working in clay on the wheel for two days a week for
the semester helped him soooo much.
